The Bee Library comprises a collection of twenty-four bee-related books selected by Finlay that were initially on display in the YSP Centre during springtime. Once read, each book was made into a nest for wild or ‘solitary’ bees at YSP and together the library now forms an installation on a walking route around Upper Lake.

More Information

The Bee Library at YSP is part of a larger project to amass over one hundred books in five locations, evolving into a global bee library. Finlay’s reading has also formed the basis for new poems, published online. See the-bee-bole.com for more information.

From July 2012, Alec will present The Bee Library on Cockatoo Island, part of the 18th Biennale of Sydney, which will consist another collection of 24 bee-themed books, which have been converted into bee nests.

On our camp last week, 22-24 June 2012, our theme was Art & About. We visited Yorkshire Sculpture park and were amazed walking around this section to see so much wildlife and nature, didn't see any bees but enjoyed spotting the books.
