Why have we waited 30 years to get here?! Thanks for a great time.

May 1995 - 21st Birthday of my son at Leeds Uni. Met up with parents and older brother (then at Oxford) for a picnic meal- anoraks, hot drinks, gray skies. Both boys untidy, longhaired students! Now, one attached to US Army in Iraq, the other, Rector of several parishes. Why did we worry so much!

My strongest memory is of the flock of white sheep in the walled garden! We've enjoyed many other exhibitions and changes since then.

I first came to YSP on a trip with Nottingham Trent Polytechnic, en route to a production of 'Twelfth Night' at the theatre in Sheffield. I remember the beautiful setting, which has improved over 21 years, and the striking Henry Moore sculptures. The additions have greatly improved the experience and it has been a delight watching the spontaneous reactions of the children to Andy Goldsworthy's art.

1988. My youngest child, Catherine, helped make a train with carriages at Dobcroft Middle School. The pupils were told the completed train would be exhibited here, and it was with great pride and anticipation that we came to see it set up in the grounds.

Sheep in Bretton Country Park.

Unfettered pasture, alive with sheep,
those crafted monoliths in our keep,
and children treading well worn trails,
drawing sculptures in earnest scales,
high above, jet streams rush,
as drying wipes from a painter's brush.
