My husband brought me to YSP on our fourth date, nine days after we met. It rained and we shared an umbrella whilst looking at sculptures I wasn't sure I understood. That was fourteen years ago and we're still coming.

When Mum had cancer we found it calming to walk through the gardens and light gallery. My children love the freedom and the sculptures.

Saying good-bye to our friend Rachel who was leaving the UK to live in New Zealand. It was pouring with rain and really a very sad day. It's my strongest memory of YSP. Yet my wife always remembers telling Rachel we were to be married! We all cried tears of joy.

Sheep in the Country Park. Photo by Helen Pheby

I emigrated to New Zealand a number of years ago and every two to three years I come to YSP with my parents. I think they think the sheep will form a link between my new home and my English home, and they are right. Every time we come, I take a while to remember the sculptures, rolling them through my mind...the Elisabeth Frink, the holey men and the deer shelter. The sense of discovery and rediscovery is as much part of my memory as the sculptures themselves. Keep up the good work.

Warm your feet at the sunset before we go to bed
Read your book by the light of Orion with Sirius guarding your head
Then reach out and switch off the planets
We'll watch them go one by one
You kiss me and tell me you love me
By the light of the setting sun
We'll both be up early tomorrow
A new Universe has begun.
