Plan Your Visit

There are usually at least 60 sculptures in the landscape for you to see as well as special exhibitions and projects in the galleries and outdoors. Displays change throughout the year so call ahead if you plan to see something in particular.

We try to make YSP as accessible as possible. The nature of the site means that some terrain is not suitable for everyone. Scooters are available free of charge to those with mobility difficulties. Please book beforehand to ensure availability.

Ask YSP staff for further assistance or advice.

Plan your visit to last as long as you like

One hour
Visit the Gardens and galleries or see the Henry Moore collection in the Country Park.

Two hours
Visit the Underground Gallery, Gardens, Hillside and Driveside for flavour of YSP – suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. Meander through the Lower Park and follow the walking route to Longside Gallery, return in the YSP Shuttle Bus (available during exhibition times only), departing every half hour between 10.55am and 2.12pm (winter), 3.25pm (summer).

Three hours
See a wide range of sculpture exploring most areas of the Park – ideal for families and visitors with mobility difficulties. Shorten or lengthen your visit by exploring the Country Park or by entering the Sculpture Trail.

Four hours
Explore the furthest reaches of the Estate and sculpture displays.

These are only suggested visits – feel free to explore the landscape and sculpture for as long as you like; there will always be something else to see next time. Times will vary depending on how fast you walk and how long you look at sculpture. Take care on uphill or muddy stretches.

YSP Galleries

There are five indoor galleries at YSP:
Underground Gallery
Bothy Gallery
Garden Gallery
Longside Gallery
Chapel

All five galleries are open every day (except during exhibition changeover and on 24 & 25 December). The Underground Gallery is YSP's main gallery space based near the YSP Centre. The Bothy and Garden Galleries are smaller spaces, also based near the YSP Centre. The Chapel is in YSP's Country Park.

Longside Gallery
Longside Gallery is open between 11am – 3pm (winter), 4pm (summer) during exhibition times. Longside is based 2km from the YSP Centre and is shared with the Arts Council featuring regular displays of their collection.

There are two walking routes to Longside Gallery, via Cascade Bridge or via Oxley Bank. Alternatively there is a shuttle bus which departs, during exhibition times, from the Walk of Art outside the YSP Centre every 30 minutes between 10.45am and 2.15pm (winter), 3.15pm (summer). Please note that last departure from Longside Gallery is at 2.25pm (winter), 3.25pm (summer). A number of booster seats provided for children under 135cm tall and a baby seat is provided for children aged between 12 months and 3 years.

Free Blue Badge Holder parking is available.
