More Information

YSP began working in partnership with MaK in 2007, by hosting Kosovar artists visiting the UK with the Fragile State exhibition, Manchester. The ongoing partnership projects are artist-led initiatives around the role of art in post-conflict regeneration and sustainable education.

Peace One Day, recognised by the United Nations as the international day for the laying down of arms, was celebrated at YSP in 2009 with an introduction to the work of MaK, and its partners. Talks, workshops and performances explored how creative and construction projects can contribute to a community’s recovery and peace.

In 2009 YSP, Castle Fine Arts Foundry and Eden Project hosted an international residency with the two Kosovar Directors of the Peace Park. In 2010, a curatorial residency with the co-founder of the Peace Park offered an insight into hosting international exhibitions. In 2011 YSP plans to host a residency for the Director of the National Gallery of Kosova and the two UK based Directors of the Peace Park. The residencies focus upon an exchange of knowledge and techniques, looking at establishing long term support through resources and skills.

YSP continues to work with MaK to support a cultural exchange which aims to give the Municipality of Podujevë the best framework for future development, in particular community engagement, developing arts and creative industries, links to education and physical regeneration through the Peace Park.
