Born in Bristol, Paul pursued an art education firstly through a Foundation Course at the Bristol Faculty of Art and Design and subsequently moved on to gain a BA Honours degree in Design at Middlesex Polytechnic in 1988. His main body of work, the Tree series, is an example of Paul’s strong graphic style. Silhouettes are the epitome of graphic design and illustration, as they help visually communicate any object clearly by the simplest of methods. The variety and interesting outline of natural forms, in particular the tree, are emphasised by the use of the silhouette. Paul’s knowledge and research into colour is equally important and he has exercised this in his work. Printed onto smooth, heavy, fine art watercolour paper. The high white, cotton paper weighs 315 grams. Specialist light fast pigment based inks have been used that will not fade in 75 years.
