Sophie Ryder Sitting

Lower Park

Following the major exhibition of work by Sophie Ryder held in Longside Gallery and the open air in 2008, Lower Park continues to feature stunning bronze and galvanised wire sculpture around the Camellia House.

Ryder’s work draws on human, animal and mythological forms, melding the attitudes and instincts of each to create a series of hybrids. Ryder has developed a narrative around the Lady-Hare; a creature with a hare’s head and the artist’s own female body. Through this character the artist examines the human condition and plays out her own emotions.

Sophie Ryder has produced two limited edition works especially for YSP. Upside Down Kneeling, an etching produced by Bernie Pratt in an edition of 70, is available for £290 unframed. Kneeling is a cast iron multiple priced £390. BUY NOW>

Sophie Ryder, a publication produced to coincide with the 2008 exhibition at YSP, is also available from the YSP Shop.
